ARISE is an innovative program supported by a grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse at the National Institutes of Health. The program is designed to assist Central Valley 7th-12th grade EL students and teachers in science achievement. This unique grant affords educators the opportunity to intensively study the field of neuroscience and the science of addiction during a content-rich, week-long summer institute on the UC Davis campus with UC Davis instructors. From that experience, teachers will form yearlong partnerships with a University Researcher to help guide their students through a class research project in order to help our most vulnerable student population (EL) succeed in science.
